Career Highlights

Ruud Hulspas brings extensive expertise in flow cytometry, with a career dedicated to advancing cell-based products in commercial cellular therapy. As the founder of Cellular Technologies Bioconsulting, LLC, he specializes in consulting on process and assay development in cell therapy, in particular flow cytometry assay development, validation, and implementation. His role as Director of Process Development at Dana Farber Cancer Institute further underscores his deep knowledge and leadership in this field. Ruud has been instrumental in developing robust flow cytometry assays that are critical for the accurate analysis and quality control of cell-based therapies.

In his previous roles, Ruud served as the Director Cytometry Core facility at the University of Massachusetts Cancer Center, Scientific Director and Scientist II at ViaCell, Inc., where he oversaw the development and implementation of flow cytometry assays for commercial cord blood storage. He also managed cell selection methods and process monitoring of cord blood-derived stem cell products in Phase I clinical trials. As Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Cytonome/ST, LLC, Ruud directed the implementation of applications and technical requirements for developing a clinical cell sorter based on microfluidic chip technology. His extensive experience in process & assay development and flow cytometry as well as his contributions to standardization and the development of innovative cell sorting technologies for manufacturing processes in cell therapy make him a valuable addition to Cell One Partners.
