Biju Parekkadan, PhD

Career Highlights

Biju Parekkadan is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Medicine at Rutgers University and a Core Faculty Member at the Center for Surgery, Innovation, and Bioengineering at Harvard Medical School.  His laboratory specializes in cell, gene, and tissue engineering, with continuous funding from the NIH. His work has been widely recognized, with over 100 invited lectures, more than 35 publications in high-impact journals such as Nature Biomedical Engineering, PNAS, and Science Translational Medicine, accumulating over 10,000 citations and resulting in over 10 patent applications.

 

In 2012, Biju was honored by Harvard Medical School with the Young Mentor of the Year Award and by the White House with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor given by the US government for early career investigators. He served as the Scientific Co-Founder, Member of the Board of Director, and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of Sentien, a clinical stage cell therapy company. He more broadly support the cell and gene therapy industry through advisory service and academic-corporate partnerships.
